All We Have Comes From the Lord of All – Purity 1857

Purity 1857 on YouTube:
Good morning,
Today’s work of art depicting the sun rising over a mountain top and pouring its light over a beautiful valley below comes to us from “our man in the UK”, artist Philip Hand, who gave me permission to share this on the blog and podcast today, yesterday morning.
Well, it’s Friday, and I share Philip’s work because it gives God glory and to encourage each of us to use our talents for the Lord’s purposes. Philip confessed he still experiences doubt about his artistic abilities from time to time, even though his portfolio of work in the past clearly demonstrates his talent. The Lord blesses us with some natural abilities, and we best serve His kingdom when we recognize them and invest in their development and use.
It is important to recognize that the abilities and things we have in life have been given to us from God and that He has a purpose to fulfill with them. When we see our abilities as something that has been given to us by God for a reason, it helps us to see God’s grand design behind our lives and to be more confident in utilizing them for the good of ourselves and others. When we see that our talents are not just “MINE” but have been given to us by God, we will be more apt to use them for good.
Speaking of seeing beyond the concept of things being “MINE”, the Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah devotion for today highlights this divine perspective, and I am sharing it on the blog today to help us all to recognize how God is Lord of all. Dr. David Jeremiah writes:
LORD OF ALL
For by [Christ] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. – Colossians 1:16
Any attempt to take away a favorite food or toy from a toddler may be met with a stern look and a firm, “Mine!” Even at a young age, the rights of ownership seem to be built in.
The fallacy of the two-year-old’s thinking is that nothing is “Mine!” Everything is part of creation and, therefore, the property of the Creator, Jesus Christ. He created everything in heaven and on earth; every earthly ruler is subject to the Ruler of all. “All things were created through Him and for Him.” With these words, the apostle Paul echoed the words of Psalm 2, where the Davidic Messiah-King would be given the nations and all the earth as His possession. Kings and rulers are warned to be wise and submit to Him in fear and trembling. But not just kings—the same warning applies to us.
As part of creation, we are bound to recognize Christ as Lord of our lives. Recommit yourself today to His lordship in your life.” – David Jeremiah
Christianity… is a bowing of the knee to the lordship of Christ. – Frederick R. Wood
Amen. Are we still living under the same fallacy that the two-year-old is living under? Are we still declaring things to be “MINE”?
As Creator, everything belongs to God. Because God is sovereign, He is in control, and our destiny is determined by Him.
Paradoxically, because God is love, He gives us a measure of free will to decide whether or not we will choose to accept His love and live with Him forever (through faith in Jesus Christ).
When we fail to recognize that we belong to the Lord, we declare things as ours, but the truth is that because we die, we can hold on to nothing – nothing is ours that hasn’t been given to us by God, and we will keep nothing going into eternity if we separate ourselves from Him.
God is Lord of all, but if we don’t submit to the lordship of Christ, we are consigned to the outer darkness of hell.
Similarly, if we choose to separate ourselves from God while here on earth, we will suffer from not knowing the peace that comes from knowing that we are forgiven and accepted by God and guaranteed eternal life. We deny the truth and can try to make our own happiness, but we will still be subject to aging and death. Whatever paradise we build on earth will be lost and reclaimed by God eventually.
So, the secret to life is to recognize the truth of God’s lordship, submit to Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and to live with God in peace by following His ways.
Nothing is “Mine”. Everything is His. So enjoy what God has given you and come under His Lordship to have peace. He lovingly reveals these truths to us so we can live, so live His wisdom, mercy, and grace.
Rejoice because when you choose to be His, by making Jesus the Lord of your life, you have nothing to fear.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” By John G. Kruis.
(While Bible verses on various topics of Counseling can be found with a quick Google search, we encourage you to purchase this resource to support the late author’s work. (The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling By John G. Kruis on Amazon )
This morning’s meditation verse comes from the section on Prayer – Waiting on the Lord.
Psalm 50:15 (NKJV) Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.
Today’s verse falls under the twentieth point of our counseling reference guide resource section on Prayer.
20. Call on the Lord in time of trouble.
Today’s Bible verse shares a view of the compassionate care of God, who directs us to call on Him in times of trouble and promises that He shall deliver us, leading us to praise His Holy Name.
While the Lord doesn’t answer every foxhole prayer in the way that we wish He would, He is close to the broken hearted and helps those who decide to trust and rely on Him.
While every tragedy in my life hasn’t been diverted by a quick prayer to God, I can testify that when you call on His name, pray, wait on the Lord, and grow in your understanding of His goodness, you will one day be able to declare that He has delivered you from all your troubles. So, call on God in times of trouble, but also decide to keep calling Him and following where He leads you because He cares for you and will see you through.

Day 356
Having begun by the Spirit are you now going to be completed by the flesh? – Galatians 3:3
It is by the Holy Spirit giving life to believe that one is saved. This gracious act leads to faith which, in turn, leads to justification (being declared righteous in God’s sight). That’s how the Christian life begins. Apart from the Holy Spirit’s regenerating work there would be no beginning of faith! And growth by grace does not occur apart from the work of the Holy Spirit either; the One Who began a good work in you will continue it until its completion. Spiritual growth is the fruit of the Spirit. And He gives both the desire and the ability to do those things that please God (Philippians 2:13). Unlike regeneration (giving life to believe), however, sanctification (replacing sinful patterns of life with their biblical alternatives) requires you to obey, asking for the Spirit’s help to enable you to understand and follow His inspired Word. Ask God for His help to complete what He has begun. He wishes to finish the task. Do you?[1]
