Good morning,
Today’s photo of a flock of seagulls standing in the sands of Myrtle Beach as the waves crash in and the light of day begins to fade away comes to us from yours truly as I captured this scene on Tuesday, February 18th.
Well, it’s Friday, thank God, and although I am sad to see my time in Myrtle Beach come to an end, I am thankful to the Lord for giving me the life He has, where taking a vacation is possible and for His protection over all the travels of my life.
It’s been a long road, but a good one all my life, and as I prepare to make my way back home, with an overnight pit stop in Cockeysville MD later today, I wanted to prepare my spirit for the day of driving ahead, and to share something from scripture to encourage us. So, I googled “Psalm for Leaving” and one of the results lead me to Psalm 121, and because my time is short here it is:
Psalm 121 (NKJV)
God the Help of Those Who Seek Him
A Song of Ascents.
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.[1]
Amen. I know my help comes from the Lord and I hope you know it too. No matter how good or bad your circumstances in life may be, let me encourage you to walk through life with God as your constant companion.
He is the One who can satisfy your soul. He is the One who will always love you and He is the One who will lead you to a good place if you only trust and follow Him. I’m trusting Him with my “going out” once again today and know that no matter where I end up in life, He will be close beside me.

This morning’s meditation verse comes from the section on Loving and Serving Others.
1 John 4:9–21
1 John 4:9–11 (NASB) By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Today’s verses are the first of two passages of scripture that fall under the first point of our counseling reference guide resource’s section on Loving and Serving Others.
1. Love one another in response to God’s love for us.
Today’s Bible verses make the case that God’s love has manifested in us through our knowledge of Jesus Christ, that His work on the cross was done for the propitiation of our sins, and that should supernaturally lead us to love one another.
The fact that the Creator of all things cared enough about us to make a special and costly way for us to be saved should cause us to realize that we are deeply loved and extremely fortunate. God knows us and chose us to be with Him forever. Because of God’s love for us and the work of Jesus Christ, we need never fear death or punishment for our sins.
Our state of grace should humble us and cause us to see others with a kind and compassionate eye. Our salvation should fill us with joy and cause us to share the love that we have been given with a world that desperately needs it. So be kind to others and try to share the love that you have received.

The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil … – Proverbs 8:13
Obviously, one who dreads the awe-inspiring Creator of the universe and falls down before Him in repentance for his sin, receiving His forgiveness in Christ, must then himself also learn to hate sin. It is not so difficult to hate the evil that we see all around us. It is encountered everywhere—often with sad results. We often deplore what we see and hear. No, it isn’t hard to learn to hate sin—except in one’s self! Ah, there’s the rub. We hate it in others; too often we love it in ourselves. Righteousness and wise living are found in the path of hatred for sin—sin that is all around us, and that we are all too ready to participate in. But the awful wrath of God that sent His Son to experience the cross ought to make us pause. As you pause to contemplate what your sin did to Him, you should begin to hate sin in yourself. If you don’t, then you need to think long and hard about what happened at Calvary. If the facts do not at length lead you to hate sin in yourself, the problems may be greater than you recognize. Perhaps you lack all love for God; perhaps you have not been saved.[2]
