Good morning,

Well, it’s Monday and it is my prayer that we will all experience “smooth sailing” as we enter the first full work week in the month of May 2025.
With my secular day job, my daily blog and podcast, and weekly ministry schedule my weeks are filled with activity and while it might seem that I am “too busy”, I must assure you that my life isn’t anywhere near as chaotic as it used to be before I came to put my faith in Jesus.
Before getting on the path of Christian Discipleship, I may have spent my off hours in the leisurely pursuit of satisfying the selfish desires of the flesh but I can tell you that no matter how much time I spent relaxing and doing the things that I wanted to do, most of which were toxic to my physical, mental, or spiritual health, I never found a sense of lasting satisfaction or a measure of peace. My bad habits caused physical, mental, and emotional turmoil. My viscous cycles of addiction took my to the heights of pleasure and crashing down into the pits of despair. My following a false religion, Buddhism, was marked by fleeting moments of peace and frustrating times of striving. The things of this world and alternate forms of religion failed to give me the rest I was looking for but thankfully, God changed all that in 2010 when I put my faith in Jesus and I became willing to submit to God and follow Him into increasing levels of hope, peace, and joy.
Who the Son sets free, is free indeed, but I have to tell you that even though I was filled with peace and joy the day, I said “the prayer” that saved my soul and gave me spiritual life, I had a lot to learn about how to walk as a Christian and how to remain in the Lord’s peace through the path of Christian Discipleship and regular spiritual disciplines such as Bible study and prayer.
Speaking of Bible Study, the Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah devotion for today addresses the stillness that one can find through the study of the Scriptures, so I am sharing it on the blog to encourage us all to renew our minds and to find God’s peace through the study of His word. David Jeremiah writes:
“Smooth Is Slow…
But Abraham still stood before the Lord. – Genesis 18:22
The Navy SEALs have a saying: “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.” We need to remember that in our frantic world. It’s especially true with the habit of daily Bible reading. Mature believers have learned that it’s better to spend five unhurried minutes reading the Bible than to read for ten minutes feeling rushed. Similarly, another author said, “Hurry is the death of prayer.”
We may not always have as much time as we’d like when we sit down to fellowship with God although we should build the necessary time into our schedules. Some days are more hectic than others. But Psalm 46:10 doesn’t say, “Be rushed, and know that I am God.” It says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Even if your time is limited, take a deep breath, and enjoy the five, ten, fifteen, or thirty minutes you have when you open your Bible. Read it aloud. Take a moment to copy down some of the verses. Turn them into prayers. Find a way of taking the truth you’ve found into the day with you.

Amen. In this chaotic world that is filled with so many options for life and distractions that take our time, man wonders where to turn to find peace and happiness. The world offers a vast array of entertainments that promise to give men what they need but more often than not we walk away dissatisfied or entrapped by the very things that were supposed to give us peace. If we go around this merry go round long enough, we can begin to see the truth that through this world we can’t “get no satisfaction”.
However, if we choose to go back to the source of life, the Maker of all things, – the Lord our God, we can discover the pathway to peace – the pathway that is built on His word.
The Bible is a supernatural book filled with God’s wisdom and anointed by His Holy Spirit, who waits for us to pick it up to meet Him there.
When we choose to slow down and give God some of our time to read His word and to know Him more, He blesses us with knowledge, wisdom, and peace. When we seek the Lord, we will find Him, and when we read His word, we will find rest, meaning, purpose, peace, and joy.
So let me encourage you to go before the Lord, humbly in prayer and Bible Study to learn from Him. Just a few minutes given to God opens the door to His love and His kingdom of peace in the midst of chaos.
Instead of investing your time in the things of this world that dissatisfy, turn to the higher path of Christian discipleship and discover the depths of peace that the Lord has waiting for you when you decide to live with and for Him.

Genesis 2:18 (ESV) Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

10. God’s design for the wife is that of a helper suitable for man.
Today’s Bible verse shows us that the Lord had a plan to help man with our feelings of loneliness. While we are never alone when we know the Lord, God knew that in our limited capacity in the flesh, we would need something that we could see, hear, and touch to satisfy our needs for physical, emotional, and spiritual intimacy. God knew that man needed a wife who he could have and hold and to love and guide through this life.
While the Bible, allows for singleness, for the purpose of whole hearted devotion to God alone – not for selfish satisfaction or as an option for sexual immorality, God’s created order for human relationships is designed for the marriage of one biological man to one biological woman to love one another and to be fruitful and multiply through families.
The role of the man – the husband is to love and serve His wife, like Christ loved the church. The role of the woman is to respect and to help her husband. It’s simple plan that God blesses and when we choose to love and help our spouses, our marriages give God glory.

But wisdom is shown to be right by all of her children. – Luke 7:35
The thrust of Jesus’ words is that you can know who is right by the sort of offspring they produce. As He put it, wisdom is known by her children. Who is wise? Those who produce the kind of people who listened to John and to Jesus. The others who did not, were the kind of people who, along with their offspring, were to crucify Jesus. What the children do tells you whose parents are wise and whose are foolish. But often, at the time, before the children are able to exhibit the character of their parents, it may not be easy to distinguish who is wise and who isn’t. But in time, when the children produce fruit, you can tell which tree is good and which tree is bad. By their fruits shall you know them is a parallel saying (Matthew 7:16). What does the lifestyle of your children reveal about you? Do others think of you as wise because they see wise behavior in them? Perhaps more is revealed than you think. Open your eyes and discover if you lack wisdom.[1]
