Good morning,
Today’s photo of a forest tail going to a seemingly endless seas of green trees comes to us from yours truly as I capture this serene scene while traversing one of the many trails at the Merck Forest & Farmland Preserve in Rupert Vermont back on May 26th, 2024.
Well, It’s Friday, thank God and Praise the Lord!, and I am rejoicing this morning in breathless anticipation for the end of the work day and the weekend ahead as I will be reunited with my beloved wife, TammyLyn, and will spend two nights of this memorial Day holiday weekend with her in “our cabin” in the woods! Excitement about spending two nights in a cabin without the modern conveniences of electricity or indoor plumbing may sound odd to some, but its not just the rustic accommodations of our cabin that has me looking forward to tomorrow, it’s the fact that I will be spending my time there with the one person who has vowed to love me and care for me that has me feeling giddy. I get spend two days with woman I love in the midst of God’s created beauty. For two days we will be enjoying each other’s company and helping each other to make our way through the various trails we will explore. For two days, we will be inseparable.
Speaking of inseparable relationships, the In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley devotion for today talks about our inseparable relationship with God and I am sharing it on the blog today to encourage all of us to actively respond to God’s love. Dr. Charles Stanley writes:
“Our Inseparable Relationship
God will never stop loving you—no matter what.
God is love. His nature requires that He love His creation unconditionally. This means that no matter what we do, He will not stop caring about us. After reading that sentence, many people are going to think of reasons why they are an exception. So, let’s be clear: God has deep love for each and every one of us, and the only thing preventing us from experiencing it is our response.
Romans 8:31 tells us God is on the side of the believer. In order for us to be purified and enter into a relationship with Him, He gave up His Son to death. Jesus’ sacrifice itself is proof of God’s love, but there are many additional expressions of His care for us. The Lord has a purpose and plan for every one of His children. Through His sovereign control, He works every situation—good and bad—to our benefit (Romans 8:28). He is a loving Father who not only is interested in what happens to us but also is actively involved in our daily life.
Some people read and intellectually believe every word of the Bible but still feel unloved because they judge themselves unworthy. Their doubt acts like a dam. The barrier will hold as long as the person believes God’s love must be deserved or earned. But thankfully, our Father is patient and freely gives His love to us as we work to understand the truth.” Charles Stanley
Amen. Stanley rightly points out that the only thing getting in the way of our experiencing God’s love in our lives is our response.
So let me introduce you to the practice of experiencing God’s goodness every day. Let’s change our response and experience the goodness of God in the land of the living.
First, we need to set a foundation for our day with a spiritual practice of prayer, Bible study, and meditation on who we are in Christ. Done continuously, this will help us to absorb the truth that we are worthy of God’s love and to experience God’s peaceful presence.
Now this is a good foundation that will establish your day, but in the hustle and bustle of life – the peace you gain from your “morning quiet time” could evaporate the minute you leave it to face the challenges of the day.
So how do more fully enter God’s kingdom and we experience the goodness of God in our lives?
We talk with Him, we walk with Him, and we view our day with eyes that recognize God’s presence.
As Stanley stated – God cares and our us and beyond that He IS FOR US. He is working all things together for our good but if we aren’t looking for it, we will miss it as the world, the flesh, and the devil will cause us to look at what is wrong in life or that will tempt us into sin.
So, as we go about our day, we keep our connection active by talking to Him. Rather than talk to ourselves or have a self-centered commentary of all we encounter – we talk to the Lord. If we see something, we thank God for it. If we see something bad, we ask God for help, forgive those who offend us, or pray for to God to help the others who are so obviously not aware of Him and His love and truth. When we do this, we reinforce our identity in Christ, our relationship with God, and form a compassionate response our neighbors who are trapped in the world’s rat race of trivialities. Effectively we practice loving God and our neighbors, with every step we take through life.
Also, we open our eyes to see the Lord’s hand in every part of our day. The word says He moves “all things” – so we look at all things and appreciate when something positive happens as a product of God’s will being done in our lives.
As I go about each day at work, I see the “easy jobs” as a blessing for the Lord. When anything positive happens in my daily life, I stop and thank the Lord or just simply declare: “SOVEREIGN GOD!” And enjoy the grace that is for me.
I look at the challenging jobs as a test delivered by God to teach me something. These “tests” may be given to test my patience, to test my abilities and to stretch them, or to humble me – to show me that I don’t know everything, can’t do everything, or to make me reach out to others to ask for help.
These test also could be used to stop me from getting my sense of worth from the things I do, and to humbly recognize (and rejoice) that my worth is not performance based – my worth is given to me by the One who made me – and no matter how I may mess up or “fail the test”, I can find solace in the fact that God still loves me, cares for me, and is for me – no matter what. No matter who rejects me or how I feel I am inadequate- I know that God is with me and will never leave me or forsake me.
When we know this truth, we need to respond to it by living in God’s kingdom every day – by drawing close to Him and staying with him through everything we walk through.
Now I understand that the world will drag you into the fray from time to time, but even in the most difficult day there will be a moment when you have to wait or when you finally finish dealing with the problems you are facing, when you get to that point – instead of stewing in the stress – remember the Lord and take that moment to either thank Him or ask Him for help.
When you do that, you’ll be right back in God’s presence- re-establishing your connection to His goodness, love and power.
Instead of reacting to the world – we respond to it from the context of our ongoing relationship with God and when we do so we will increasingly experience God’s goodness.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” By John G. Kruis.

This morning’s meditation verses come from the section on Mixed Marriages.
Genesis 6:1-4 (ESV) 1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.
Today’s verses fall under the third point of our counseling reference guide resource section on Mixed Marriages.
3. There were sad results of mixed marriages prior to the flood.
Today’s Bible verses highlight some of the most mysterious and challenging verses in scripture as it speaks of the Nephilim and the “sons of God” having sex with the “daughters of men.” The Nephilim are said to be the offspring of fallen angels and human women, and the results of this unholy union was supersized gigantic “mighty men of renown”.
While we may think of the 1989 Nicholas Cage & Meg Ryan movie, City of Angels, and think that “love is love” and there is nothing wrong with angels and humans having sex under the guise of love, the word of God tells us something different.
God’s response, found in this Bible’s passage and the ones following this one, tell us that He therefore limited the human lifespan to 120 years and subsequently decide to flood the earth to wipe out the wickedness of these unholy unions.
Similarly, when Christians decide to go against God’s word and are unequally yoked to nonbelievers, they too can expect sad results of discord, division, and possibly much worse that come from an unholy union. Do not be tempted, do not be unequally yoked.

Day 165
The harvest is great, but the workers are few. – Luke 10:2
Jesus was about to send these followers we have been considering on an urgent mission—so much so that they couldn’t make preparations for it. But it seems that He was only able to enlist seventy who were willing to go immediately. So, even though there were fewer than He needed, He sent them. He fully instructed these few in number to reap a bountiful harvest of souls. So, He urged them not only to follow Him, but to ask God for more workers as well. There are always too few to do the job it seems. That prayer, therefore, is one you should also be praying today. The opportunities are great, perhaps greater than ever before; but the workers are few. Even if you go, you should not be satisfied with the limited number who stand beside you. Pray for more. As soon as you become part of the mission, you will recognize all too clearly how few there are to work and how much work there is to do. So ask for more![1]
