The Remedy for Demonic Dreams – Faithful Through the Ages – Purity 1709

Good morning,

Well, it’s Monday and although its back to work after a short one day weekend, I am counting my blessings this morning because last night my sleep was disturbed just after midnight last night by what I can only describe as a tormenting demonic dream. The content of the dream: I was on the phone with someone who took the opportunity to upset me with claims of abuses that they had caused to people I know, taking delight in describing foul sexually perverse and violently abusive things they had allegedly done – before I suddenly woke up. It was your classic short tormenting demonic dream that is given to shock and torment you and to cause you to wonder about the content of the dream to further torment you, to disturb your sleep, and to steal your peace of mind. After a dream of this type it is very easy to be shaken by it and to spend the night tossing and turning.
But I am counting my blessings this morning, because that didn’t happen, because I know the remedy for tormenting demonic dreams. Through my studies of spiritual warfare and experiences of dealing with the demonic, I know what to do when the spiritual forces of darkness come calling in the dead of night (around midnight) or in the wee hours of the morning (3:00 am). I call on the One who has been proven to never disappoint – the one who is faithful to help in times of trouble. I call on the Lord in prayer for help. And knowing how demons operate, I prayer to cancel any permissions they may have to be present of my life and to cast them out in the name of Jesus.
So when I woke up, because I have dealt with this before, I immediately enacted the following steps to break the curse of the demonic dream.
- Assure yourself that what you experienced is just a dream. If it won’t disturb anyone else’s sleep, I suggest turning on the lights. It’s good to be able to see that you are safe in bed and that your dream was just a nightmare. I also suggest getting out of bed, using the bathroom, and getting a drink water to remind you that you’re okay.
- Start praying out loud to:
- Cast out the enemy, in Jesus’ Name. Declare that you know, from the content of the dream, that it was demonic and say a prayer to expose the enemy’s work and to send Him packing. “I cast you out in the name of Jesus!” is a good start.
- Get right with God. Here we want to say a quick prayer to ask for God’s help. “Lord, help me. Lord, I ask for your forgiveness for anything I may have done to allow the enemy to have permission to operate in my life. Show me what I need to confess to be free.”
- Pause and Listen. After you pray that prayer, the Lord will bring to your mind the sins, states of unforgiveness, or exposure to the occult that you need to renounce in order to cancel the enemy’s permission.
- Repent, Renounce, Cancel and Cast Out. Pray to repent of the things the Lord brings to your mind. Pray to repent of your sins. Pray to forgive those you need to forgive. Pray to renounce your exposure to the occult. Be Specific. For example:
“Lord, I repent of my sins of _(recent specific sin)_, I ask for your forgiveness and commit myself to turn from them from now on.
“Lord, I chose to forgive _(the person’s name)_ for _(what they did or didn’t do)_, because it made me___( how it made you feel)_. I chose to forgive them and I pray that you would bless them.”
“Lord, I pray to renounce my exposure to __(occult or false religious practices, places, things, or interactions). I renounce them all as Satan’s counterfeits.
And finally, “Lord, I cancel whatever permissions that my sin, unforgiveness, or exposure to the occult has cause to allow the enemy access to my life and I now commit myself to follow and worship you only. Be the authority of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I command the enemy to leave me now! In Jesus’s Name. Amen.”
- Pray to Thank God and Go Back to Sleep.
“Lord, Thank you for saving me and helping once again. You are my protector and deliverer and I praise you for your faithfulness to help me in times of need. Thank You God, Thank You Jesus, Thank You Holy Spirit.
“Lord, I pray for you to clear my mind of this distressing dream and to help me to be at peace and to have a good night’s sleep.”
This process worked for me and I did it very quickly – within 5 minutes or so – and I was able to have a good night’s sleep afterward. I pray it works for you.

And the opposite is true as well. When a person exalts Himself, he can try to offer a good reason for doing so, but we are all sinners condemned by God. Who has a right to magnify himself? No human being but Jesus. So, you ought to take a lower rather than a higher seat. You ought not to give Christmas gifts only to those you think will also give you a gift. You ought to do good to those that you know will not be able to reciprocate, as Jesus said in His words about the guests at the dinner party. How devious people are! When He raised these issues, He struck at the very heart of the selfish, self-exalting spirit that men have. God has a way of humbling us so that He may, in turn, exalt us. The way to greatness in His kingdom leads through the valley of meekness! Jesus turns all sinful values around; He says that the first shall be last, and the last shall be first. Where do you belong on His scale of values?
Think in harmony with one another, not being haughty but associating with the lowly. Don’t become conceited. – Romans 12:16[1]
