Good morning,

Today’s photo of a virtual leaf floating in a virtual stream, inscribed with the message “God is with me”, comes to us from yours truly as I captured this virtual creation while visiting the Adirondak Experience Museum in Blue Mountain Lake back on August 14, 2025.

Well, It’s Saturday and I am rejoicing this morning because I am reunited with my wife, TammyLyn, for the weekend – after her week long service as a fundraising volunteer, as a face painter, for the Operation Adopt a Soldier booth at the Washington County Fair and my weeklong stint of rest, physical therapy, and medical appointments.

My accident injuring my left leg at work August 8th has proved to be a blessing because the medical imaging tests and the subsequent medical treatments I have received since my fall have revealed some serious medical issues that I can now have treated.  A cat scan revealed a lesion on my liver (MRI coming this Tuesday) and some calcification around my heart, which I now have more tests for scheduled for September 3rd.

Upon Medical advice, I went to the Albany Associates Walk in Cardiology Clinic and was prescribed given precautionary prescription for Lipitor, an appointment for an Echocardiogram and a Stress Test, along with a follow-up appointment with a cardiologist to chart my course going forward. Upon leaving, because my coronary calcium score of 405 for the left anterior descending (LAD) artery indicates an extensive plaque burden and severe coronary artery disease in that vessel, I was told quite plainly that if I have any chest past pains, at all, to immediately go to hospital or call 911.  So, there’s that.  And I was worried about my liver, hah.

Anyway, shortly after the lesion on my liver was revealed, while swimming in the waters of Schroon River, before receiving the news about my heart, I thanked God for my life and surrendered whatever is going to be left of it here on earth to the Lord.  I had surrendered my life to God a few times over the years, but to stave off my fears and anxiety over this medical report, I thought it was prudent to reaffirm my commitment to be thankful for the blessing of my life and to dedicate what’s left of it to the Lord’s service, however He should call me.   These latest medical issues have further reminded me of just how precious life is and I will do my best to enjoy the life God has given me and to represent His kingdom wherever I go.

Speaking of surrendering your life to the Lord, today’s  In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley provides us with some reasons to surrender to God and I am sharing it on the blog to encourage those who haven’t surrendered to God already to do so while you have the chance.  Dr. Charles Stanley writes:

“Reasons to Surrender

God’s will may not always be easy, but it’s always best for us.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

As we saw yesterday, God wants us to surrender our life to Him. But perhaps you have wondered why the Lord asks this of us.

First, Scripture teaches that He’s the sovereign King who rules over the entire universe (Nehemiah 9:6) and, as a result, we are under His divine authority. Next, through His death and resurrection, Jesus saved us from our sin, bringing us from death to life. And finally, He sustains us—so we should consider each breath and heartbeat to be a gift from Him.

The Lord desires that we yield our life to His will. He loves His children “with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3) and has good plans for each one of us. The Father promises that following Him leads to hope and an established future—as Psalm 31:19 states, “How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You.” So, while He is the Almighty with authority over every aspect of our life, He also promises to care for us and bring good from every situation.

Are you willing to follow Jesus? His way is best, and it offers hope, joy, and peace. And, while some of His decisions may not be to our liking, we must believe in His promise to work all things for our good. Will you trust God enough to hand the reins over to Him?” – Charles Stanley

Amen. When we are blessed to receive the revelation of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and understand who God is, the appropriate response is to surrender your life to Him.  The simple facts of God’s power and authority as the Sovereign King of the universe and Creator of all things should be reason enough to bow the knee but God doesn’t force our allegiance to Him and used Jesus to demonstrate His mercy, grace, and love for us to draw us to Him.  If you have answered the Lord’s call to make Jesus, your Savior, make sure you are not missing out on all that God has for you by surrendering all of your life to Him.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” By John G. Kruis.

(While Bible verses on various topics of Counseling can be found with a quick Google search, we encourage you to purchase this resource to support the late author’s work. (The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling  By John G. Kruis on Amazon )

This morning’s meditation verses come from the section on Peace – Rest.

Romans 5:1 (NIV) Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today’s verses fall under the second point of our counseling reference guide resource section on Peace – Rest.

2. Peace comes through justification by faith in Jesus.

Today’s Bible verse speaks of the peace we have with God when we are justified through faith in Jesus Christ.

When we put our faith in Jesus, we can rest easy because we have the guarantee of eternal life in God’s Kingdom. Christ’s work on the cross not only pays for the debt of all our sins, but it also imputes to us the sinless righteousness of Jesus to our accounts! We are not only forgiven, but we are also made holy because of what Jesus did for us.  Because of our faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we have peace with God.  Praise the Lord!

Day 242

Pray that you may not enter into temptation. – Luke 22:40

Don’t think that prayer is difficult only for you. The disciples had difficulty too. Even though over and over Jesus made it clear that momentous events were about to take place, that He would be numbered with transgressors in death, they seemed not to sense the importance of what was happening. So, once again, we find them failing to pray in this crucial hour. Did they “enter into temptation?” Yes, they failed to stand in the crucial hour because they failed to pray beforehand. Peter denied the Lord, and all likewise forsook Him. Only the women stood by the cross. The disciples were not to be seen. You too are summoned to pray. It is difficult to be regular and to be genuine in prayer. The first can be dealt with only by setting regular times (in addition to occasional prayer); the second only by reading Scripture that enjoins and stimulates it. There is temptation on every hand; prayer, therefore, is a requisite for maintaining loyalty in times of trial.[1]
