Good morning,
Today’s photo of tree trees and a pair of swing sets and park benches before the splendor of Lake Ontario comes to us from yours truly as I captured this beautiful scene while on the road for a mission trip to Buffalo, NY back on November 10th, 2022.
Well, it’s Monday and I start this week continuing the mission of finding full-time employment and trusting that the Lord will lead my steps to where I am supposed to go and will somehow provide for my needs until I get there.
After my first day of work, at my new job as a seasonal package deliverer driver, failed to deliver a full time shift, I realized that my search for a full time gig was far from over. I spent a good amount of time applying for new jobs over the weekend and now I have to wait and see how long it will take before the Lord leads me out of the darkness of unemployment and the shadow of the valley of the fear of financial ruin. Although, I am confident that the Lord will help me, I am just hoping He will do something sooner, rather than later. I can shift gears to a “new normal” pretty quickly but the Lord is going to have to open the doors for me to walk through.
Speaking of needing the Lord’s help, the Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah devotion for today talks about trusting the Lord and I am sharing it on the blog today to offer all of us the hope that God will help us out. Dr David Jeremiah writes:
THE BOY IN THE BASKET
Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. – Colossians 3:2, TLB
There is so much to worry about on this earth! Perhaps your burdens are pressing down on you like an anvil. We have to look up to heaven and remind ourselves that Jesus is on the throne. We can trust Him with our cares.
Consider the anguish felt by Jochebed and Amram, the parents of a little boy born into slavery. Pharaoh commanded all baby boys be thrown into the Nile (Exodus 1:22). God led Jochebed and Amram to do that very thing, only they first placed their child in a waterproof basket and committed him to the care of the God of Israel. Hebrews 11:23 says, “It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command” (NLT).
We need the same faith in the same God today! Ask Him today to strengthen your faith in Him. Give Him the events in your life. He is faithful. – David Jeremiah
Instead of cowering in fear when difficulties come, step out in faith and trust God to deal with your circumstances…. If adversity touches your life, God is at work. – Charles Stanley
Amen. When the David Jeremiah devotion quotes Charles Stanley, you know you have to share it!
Anyway, today’s message is one that we should carry at all times, especially in times of trials and tribulations.
We can trust God with our cares. When troubles come we should go to the Lord to ask for His help in strengthening our faith and in moving things in our circumstances that will lead to deliverance.
When we are in a hard season we have to do everything we can to turn things around but usually there are situations that are beyond our ability to control. If we could fix everything ourselves, we wouldn’t need the Lord. But we can’t fix everything. We need God to save us and when we are facing adversity, the Lord is waiting for us to come to Him to receive the peace of His presence and His power to move all things for good.
So, pray and trust God to work. It may take longer than you think but stay close to the Lord and He will see you through.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” By John G. Kruis.

This morning’s meditation verse comes from the section on Persecution.
Acts 16:25 (NASB) But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
Today’s verse falls under the sixteenth point of our counseling reference guide resource section on Persecution.
16. Paul and Silas sang hymns while they were imprisoned.
Today’s Bible verse is probably one of the most counterintuitive and yet inspiring passages regarding Christian discipleship to grace the pages of scripture.
Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in jail for sharing the gospel but even in their lowly state, the Holy Spirit helped them to continue their witness by comforting them and drawing them to pray and sing hymns. The other prisoners got to see what faith looks like. Even in the midst of a jail cell, Paul and Silas demonstrated the hope and the joy that God brings. And as God would have it, their faith was rewarded with a miraculous jail break and evangelistic fruit as their jailer put His faith in Jesus.
God is good all the time. So even if things are bad, always pray and sing praise to the One who saves us and makes all things new.

Day 321
… there was a certain disciple there named Timothy … – Acts 16:1
Few companions could have been so trustworthy and helpful as Timothy, to whom two New Testament letters were written, and who eventually pastored the influential church of Ephesus. Again, at Lystra, where such disheartening events occurred previously, not all was negative. A most encouraging event also took place: Timothy was enlisted as a part of Paul’s missionary team. Timothy was part Jew, part Greek, but had been educated by a believing mother and grandmother. What a wonderful heritage, showing that God can still do great things for the children of a marriage between a believer and nonbeliever (though undesirable). Timothy was extremely young at this time (twelve years later he is still spoken of as young, 1 Timothy 4:12). Nevertheless, Timothy became Paul’s right hand man, sticking to him until the very end, when many others had forsaken him. What a sterling character this man had—humble, helpful, and hopeful. More Timothys are needed in the church today.[1]
