Good morning,

Today’s photo of a pathway between two buildings leading to a beautiful white sand beach and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea beyond comes to us from yours truly as I captured this view while on a bus tour of Grand Turk Island on Monday.

Well, It’s Wednesday and it’s the last day of 2025.  I didn’t report in yesterday because after and during my trip to Grand Turk I was afflicted with what I will call a stomach bug and was quarantined to my stateroom all day yesterday as a precaution to make sure my stomach troubles weren’t contagious.  I am happy to report that my gastrointestinal symptoms ended Monday evening and I have been medically cleared to resume my vacation freely after being confined to quarters all day yesterday.  Although, I missed out on visiting Puerto Rico yesterday, I did spent the day resting and reading Steve Goss’ Free to Be Yourself, which reminded me of who I am in Christ and of how good and faithful God is.

Speaking of the faithfulness and goodness of God, the Turning Point with Dr. David Jeremiah devotion for today addresses that topic. So I am sharing it on the blog today to encourage us to trust in the Lord and His faithfulness for the new year.

FAITH WHILE WAITING

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. – Ecclesiastes 3:11

Our journey through life is like children who anticipate Christmas morning. They know something exciting awaits them, but they don’t know what it is until they unwrap it. Likewise, God has put in the human heart a longing, anticipation, and expectation that eternal joy is coming, yet for now we can’t know the totality of God’s plans and purposes until they are revealed. So we live in a state of expectation and trust in the present: expectation based on God’s promises and trust based on His faithfulness.

The nation of Israel lived with that same tension. After Moses led them in renewing their covenant with God before entering the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 29), he warned them about the consequences of being unfaithful and how those consequences would unfold. Some things are revealed, but the “secret things” belong to the Lord alone until they are revealed (verse 29).

Rejoice today in the eternal longing God has put in your heart and renew your faith in Him for the “secret things”—His plans and purposes—yet to be revealed.”  – David Jeremiah

God takes us into His confidence and shares His secrets with us.

Amen.  Today is the last day of 2025.  Whether the past year disappointed, met, or exceeded your expectations, the year of 2025 will soon be “history”.  No matter how the past year went we can’t do anything to change what came to pass.  We can’t only reflect on the year that has gone by and try to learn from it.  We can rejoice over our accomplishments and we can mourn our losses and mistakes and try to let what happened in 2025 inform our pathway into 2026.

2025 is the history that we have to accept and 2026 is the mystery that we will walk into tomorrow.

If 2025 was a good year or a challenging year, let’s remember to thank the Lord for being with us through it all and let’s trust in His faithfulness and His goodness to lead us through the new year with His grace.

God moves all things together for good for those who love Him and who are called to His purposes.

So let’s embrace the mystery before us by dedicating ourselves to loving God and following where He leads us in the year ahead and expecting Him to be faithful to move things together for our good in the future as He has done in our past.

God has been faithful in 2025, and in the years before it, and we can trust that He will be faithful and good in 2026.

Today’s Bible verse comes to us from “The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling” By John G. Kruis.

This morning’s meditation verses come from the section on Prayer – Waiting On the Lord.

Psalm 32:`1-11 (ESV) Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.

Selah.

I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Selah.

Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.

Selah.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Today’s verses are the first of six passages of scripture that fall under the nineteenth point of our counseling reference guide resource section on Prayer.

19. Pray for the forgiveness of sins.

Today’s Bible verses tell us how very blessed we are to be forgiven and loved by the Lord.

If we are not stubborn like a horse or mule without understanding, decide trust in God, and to listen to the Lord’s instructions, we can expect that God’s steadfast love will surround us and that He will lead us through the new year as He has faithfully lead us in the years gone by.  Rejoice that God loves you and forgives you and trust that He will lead you through all the days of your life with grace when you follow His call on your life.

Day 350

… he reasoned … about righteousness, self-control, and the … judgment – Acts 24:25

Felix was the listener. He had come to extort money from Paul but, instead, received a stinging Gospel appeal. Paul focused on the need for the appropriation of Christ’s righteousness, pointing out Felix’s lack of it; he also stressed the lack of control Felix had over his life; then he zeroed in on the judgment to come. Felix left the room in a hurry. After many other visits, he was relieved of his post by Festus who, in order to please the Jews, let Paul linger still longer in prison. He was the one who, by a further decision to please the Jews, wanted to send him back to Jerusalem (v. 9). Paul appealed to Caesar, an act that saved him from death at the hands of the Sanhedrin. How important this glimpse of Paul’s message is for showing how to confront people about their sin! Reason, from the Bible as he did, when witnessing to the lost about their need for a Savior.[1]
