Good morning,
Today’s photo of a historic house built in the Italianate architectural style comes to us from yours truly as I captured this quaint country manor while working in Manheim, NY, back on April 9th, 2025. My wife, TammyLyn, had been dreaming and searching for houses at the time, and so I shared this with her because I knew she would like it, even though it was too far west for either one of us to seriously consider.
Well, it’s Tuesday, and our dream of having a home of our own is slowly coming into focus as we have an accepted offer on what will be our house in Glens Falls, NY, and TammyLyn has been working with the seller and her realtor to possibly close the deal by the end of the month!
The times, “they are a-changin’” and even though there are still some things that are uncertain in regard to having us under the same roof for good, we are moving forward with confidence rather than fear. We trust that the Lord will provide us with what we need and that He will move all of our things together for good, eventually.
Speaking of trusting the Lord and moving past the fear of uncertain events, In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley devotion for today speaks about that topic, and I am sharing it on the blog today to encourage us to face our fears with faith. Dr. Charles Stanley writes:
“Facing Our Fear
Fear is a trap that limits us physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Psalms 91:1-10
Fear can creep into our life without our realizing it. The intrusion can be so subtle, in fact, that we may not recognize how it affects our decision-making, our health, and our spirit.
The fear may seem unimportant at first, but it can begin to interfere with us in many ways. Physically, we may experience tension that keeps us from relaxing and enjoying life. Worry can also cloud our thinking, limiting our ability to think clearly and consider new possibilities.
But the mental paralysis that often accompanies unchecked fear is most dangerous to our spiritual life. Unless it is entrusted to God, a single fear can rule over us, coloring our attitude with a general sense of unease. That can lead to indecisiveness and worry about whether we will make the wrong choice. Then we feel trapped, as we try to avoid doing anything that might add to our anxiety. Consequently, we stop growing as Christians and can also find ourselves hindered in our work and family life.
There are times when we all experience fear. That’s part of being human. But if we allow ourselves to be paralyzed by worry, we cannot place complete trust in God and follow Him wholeheartedly (Psalm 27:1). Ask the Lord to reveal places where anxiety is holding you back and to help you address them.” – Charles Stanley
Amen. When we focus on the fearful things of this world, we can easily start operating from a place of tension and begin to seek to take control by building our defenses up and cutting off access to our lives. Our fearful view changes the way we look at the world. We begin to focus on the resources we lack and begin to see others as enemies that we have to protect ourselves from. Our anxiety about the state of the world can make us less generous and less loving.
When we enter uncertain times, we have to ask ourselves whether life is just about surviving or whether it is still about what God says about it.
While we should always be good stewards of what God has given us materially and do our best to protect our loved ones from harm, we have a higher calling to help others to survive eternally – to offer them the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to represent the kingdom as people of peace and joy.
If we are fearful and isolate ourselves from the world, we not only fail to represent the gospel well, but we also lose the peace and joy that God gives us.
So cast your anxieties off and give them to God. Trust that the Lord will guide your path to Him and do your best to share and show the love of God to others, regardless of the fears and uncertainties of this life.

This morning’s meditation verse comes from the section on the Providence of God.
Isaiah 45:12–13 (NLT) I am the one who made the earth and created people to live on it. With my hands, I stretched out the heavens. All the stars are at my command. I will raise up Cyrus to fulfill my righteous purpose, and I will guide his actions. He will restore my city and free my captive people—without seeking a reward! I, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!
Today’s verses are the first of three passages of scripture that fall under the eighth point of our counseling reference guide resource section on the Providence of God.
8. God uses wicked rulers to fulfill his purposes for his children.
Today’s Bible verses remind us that God is in charge and that His sovereign plan shall come to pass, even if He uses some unlikely characters to get us there.
Here God’s word speaks of raising up Cyrus, a pagan king of Persia who conquered Babylon and famously allowed the Jewish people to end their exile and return to Jerusalem to rebuild their temple, fulfilling this prophecy from the book of Isaiah.
The Bible can be trusted as the word of God because of fulfilled prophecies like this one and we can therefore trust what it tells us about Jesus, who fulfilled, not just one, but is estimated to have fulfilled over 300 Messianic prophecies from the Old Testament highlighting specific details about his life, death, and resurrection.
In Jesus’ story, wicked men like Herod Antipas and Pontius Pilate played a part in God’s sovereign plan, but although they had their own reasons for allowing Christ to be killed, God’s purpose of redeeming His children would be fulfilled.
We can trust God to do what is right, even in a world that has evil men supposedly pulling the strings of power and influence.

Day 35 – Group Consideration – Read 1 Corinthians 14:26–35
God is not a God of disorder but of peace. – 1 Corinthians 14:33
We must use the Word of God to test every message we hear, asking the Spirit to guide us. There are false teachers in the world, and we must beware (1 John 4:1). But even true teachers and preachers sometimes make mistakes. Each of us must evaluate the message and apply it to his or her own heart (Acts 17:11).
Our public meetings are more formal than those of the early church, so it is not likely that we need to worry about the order of service. But in our more informal meetings, we need to consider one another and maintain order. I recall being in a testimony meeting where a woman took forty minutes telling of a boring experience and as a result destroyed the spirit of the meeting.
Evangelist D. L. Moody was leading a service and asked a man to pray. Taking advantage of his opportunity, the man prayed on and on. Sensing that the prayer was killing the meeting instead of blessing it, Moody spoke up and said, “While our brother finishes his prayer, let us sing a hymn!” Those who are in charge of public meetings need to have discernment—and courage.
